While Shepherds Watched centers around the story of a shepherd named Omer and his rebellious son, Benjamin. The initial conflict between them points out the two main themes of the story: God's gift of His Son to pay the price for sin; and God's control in difficult times. The story ends with them at the manger seeing Christ just after He was born.
